We all have an innate ability to create and have a strong desire to
connect with the world through our expression. And the way we express
ourselves is the way we create. Whether this takes the form of words,
sound, visual or by our deeds.
They are all acts of creation.
But do we act to create or do we re-act?
Art has the power to transform us. It allows us to travel an inward journey that opens doorways to higher human consciousness. Through art, we get to know ourselves deeply and our connections with the world grows.
Alan Alda wrote “The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is yourself.”
The act of creativity allows you to access presence. You find yourself in a space of no clocks – time may pass but you are not aware of it. You are in the “zone’. In the zone is where your heart beats peacefully. Stress has disappeared. Your body is healing. You are not reacting in this place; you are simply experiencing your being.
This is the beginning of your awakening creativity. The fun of creative doing is then expressed. In your drawings, in your paintings in your writings in your journaling; the list is endless.
The creative process will propel you to experience your world with your senses enlivened. And once awakened, you will experience other places of knowing – beyond the mind and more than the mind could ever offer you.
Everyone
is creative. It may feel like it’s a gift that only some have. It is a
gift and we all have it – for some it’s just waiting to be ignited and
others may just need to throw another log on the fire.
